We are seeking an experienced Heavy Machine Operator to join our dynamic team in Navan. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a range of heavy machinery. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong commitment to safety, precision, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes to move earth, rock, gravel, and other materials as required by project specifications.
- Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs to ensure equipment is in safe, working condition.
- Follow all site safety protocols and company procedures to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and instructions to execute tasks accurately.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors and team members to coordinate work and ensure project deadlines are met.
- Complete daily logs and reports on equipment usage, maintenance, and any incidents.
- Assist with site preparation, including clearing, grading, and loading/unloading materials as needed.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents to management promptly.
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery in a construction or civil engineering environment.
- Valid 360 Excavator CSCS Licence/Shovel Loader Ticket.
- Valid Manual Handling Certificate.
- Valid driver’s license is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices for heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Relevant NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Operations or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required by project demands.
